Derby Meetups Moved to Saturdays

I got this photo from Barbara over at Dream today. Even through the Red Tide (or whatever that is that’s discoloring the East River) the fish are still biting. This guy in a regular on the river, though I don’t think I’ve ever met him. Nice fish, though.

Other derby-related announcements: Due to constant complaining by Dave Cole, we’ve moved the weekly derby meetup to Saturday afternoons. This way, Dave can watch the Chicago Bears every Sunday with a full hangover and not be bothered with having to fish. We’re still locking down the location, but it will be some place that serves alcohol and is located close to the river.

We got a nice little write-up on the site Blood, Sweat, and Cheers today. It’s the first time I’ve seen that site, but thanks!

Don’t forget about the fishing trip this Saturday. I’ll have more on that tomorrow, but plan to be at Pier 6 in Sheepshead Bay by 6PM. We’ll probably fish ’til around 12AM, which is plenty of time to get home and hit the bar if that’s what you wanna do.

Great looking fish. Thats a great sign. not only too early but also during the muddy red east.
This guy is one of the nicest guys to talk to on the pier. Great fishing buddy.,.. especially after since his fish is too early for derby qualifications. If he would have caught in during derby time it would be a different story.

    Whats are the official measurements????

Aside from cycling, I am an avid angler fishing fan . I never experience that such a great catch . I wish I could catch the same…. oops. The rod is not same you are using. Mine is for small fishes weighing not more than 3 kilos. Anyway, I enjoy fishing like any other sports only you are exposed from direct sunlight except when the weather is cloudy and it is raining. Thanks and God bless.

Hey Jhun, If you are in the NYC area, you should go to dream tackle and grab a derby package. You get a big rod and reel, and everything else that you need. Lots of big fish like that coming soon.
